Amrita TBI to invest $200,000 in three startups at 5th edition of PitchFest

Amrita invests at the PitchFest

Amrita TBI is a Technology Business Incubator sponsored by Govt. India and Amrita University. It is in the pursuit of the most promising start-ups in India this January through its start-up centric event, Pitchfest 2017, a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative business ideas and products.

Amrita TBI PitchFest 2017, will mark the fifth edition of the scintillating start-up pitching event. The top 30 start-ups will be pitching and showcasing in front of elite investors, media groups, and C-level executives from the industry. The two-day pitching event will be held in Bangalore on 28th and 29th, January 2017. The judgement will be by a dedicated elite panel of Investors and VCs.

Amrita TBI will provide seed investments for qualified startups after the completion of the required due diligence on the three finalists.  Prominent partners of the program are DST, Govt of India, Indian Angel Network, BHIVE Workspace, The Tech Portal, and YourStory.

This year, Amrita TBI has doubled the total investment outlay to $200,000 for start-ups. The two-day pitching will be judged by a dedicated elite panel of investors and VCs.

The participants will be mentored by the elite panel consisting of well-known entrepreneurs and industry experts. Amrita TBI internal mentors will also be available during the event. The three finalist ideas will qualify to receive a total seed investment of up to $200,000 from Amrita TBI. All start-ups will also be eligible for incubation support from Amrita TBI which includes working space and mentorship support.

The deadline for applications is 7th January 2017. The received applications will be scrutinized and shortlisted on basis of a combination of factors. These include uniqueness of the idea, market opportunity, growth potential, strategy, team profile, etc,.

In the last edition, the program attracted applications from more than 700 startups across 10 Indian states. This made it one of the most sought-after-startup pitching events in the country.

Preksh Innovations, a top startup winner of the last edition and incubated at Amrita recently made it to the second position at the K-Startup Grand Challenge in Seoul. More than 2400 startups from 124 countries participated.

In previous years, the judges included Padmaja Ruparel, Ramesh Radhakrishnan, Srinivas Rao, Nikhil Agarwal among others.
