Media training for Startups
Startups are the talk of the town. Most either own a Startup or is working for one. There is a mass movement for entrepreneurship and it is unstoppable. With the success of Flipkart,Zomato, OLA and others this space has become very exciting. There are new startups being born every minute, some are getting funding, mergers and acquisition and even closure of some.
Mr Sachin Tantry is journalism & media studies academician. He has over seven years of teaching experience and over 5 years industry experience. He also provides consultancy to Startups with respect to media and communication strategy. He is a resource person at many colleges and regularly conducts lectures and workshops on media at various academic institutes and corporates. He also writes for newspapers. He heads the department of Arts at Jain University (Psychology, Journalism, Economics & Sociology). Earlier as a Management faculty, he had taught at Jain University, Manipal University and AVAGMAH B-School. He has prior experience in Radio, Public Relations and Films. He is a post graduate in Mass Communication from Christ College, Media Laws from NALSAR, Hyderabad and a Diploma in Culture Studies from CSCS. He is currently pursuing PGDBA in Marketing and Media at Welingkars, Mumbai. He has presented papers at conferences held in University of Oregon, Harvard campus, Flagler College Florida and many national conferences in India. He has conducted a lecture at New York Institute of Technology on radio in India.
An ardent story teller and mompreneur, believes in putting her energies in telling right stories, for right audience. She manages the strategizing and operations of Prastuti, by keeping the team sane and turning them insane, when on not on the job. Post graduate in Media Laws, with strategizing media communication as her prime interest, Rohinee loves spinning stories which gives out right messages. A Veda and Upanishad enthusiast, trained classical singer she loves to spend her free time at her home library with her little daughter.
Startups and Media
These startups need attention for three main reasons: branding, user acquisition and investor attention. Branding helps startups in building a unique name and image. Branding leads adding customers and when you have a sizeable number of customers, startups attract the attention of investors.
Need of media training
To achieve this, startups need to have a good communication strategy to connect with the media so that media can speak about them in the right way. Most entrepreneurs are either technically dexterous or good at operations and do not understand the nuances of communications. They make some critical mistakes while managing their communications with the media. Hence they need a basic understanding of the functioning of media and especially Public Relations. This will help them in achieving media attention.
