Hello Bangalore, Swift India Developer Community
Swift India Developer Community is organizing it’s first Bangalore chapter on this 15th of July 2017. This meet-up will happen at Bhive Co-Working space in residency road. We have got three amazing speakers for the meet-up.
Topic: Swifty Persistence with GRDB
Abstract: There’re hundreds of ways to persist data on Apple’s platforms. These days, the most popular are probably CoreData and Realm. However, they don’t play particularly well with Swift and rely on “black magic” to work. They also often do way more than many apps need, but you always pay the cost in terms of complexity. GRDB is a thin Swifty wrapper over SQLite, which embraces SQLite. This talk goes into what GRDB is, a few ways to use it, and reasons to prefer it over CoreData, Realm, etc.

He blogs occasionally athttp://gopalkri.com, and tweets fromhttps://twitter.com/gopalkri.
Topic: Protocols and Swift
Abstract: Most modern languages have a way to deal with this problem. In Objective-C — and indeed, in Swift — we call them protocols. As a concept, protocols are like contracts. If a type conforms to a protocol, it has essentially signed a contract to implement the methods specified in that protocol. Let’s visit a unique problem of the two pure Swift types that want to talk to each other, we can use protocols so that they remain blissfully unaware of one another. All they care about is the protocol. Let’s look at a concrete, incredibly pedagogical example.
Bio: Deepak is a Tech Lead at IBM MobileFirst for iOS Garage. He has been working with Swift since 2014 developing Enterprise Apps for the Travel n Transport Domain. He’s working on Swift when he isn’t trekking, reading or dancing to popular Bollywood dance numbers. He is @deepakao on Twitter.
