About the speaker


Ninad Raval is the Director of Product and Design, Flock. He has helped several businesses under the Directi Group to design simple multi-screen, data-driven products with a focus on bridging user goals and business objectives. He is currently responsible for defining product roadmap and release planning, product and design strategy for consumer and enterprise products, design leadership and talent management.

He joined Directi in the year 2004, and in the last 12 years, he has been associated with some of the brands like BigRock, Media.Net, ResellerClub and LogicBoxes. He helped in setting up the first UX and Design Group, in a then 40 people engineering organization. He played an important role in hiring Designers, UI Developers and IxD Professional, and conducted regular training across all BU’s and Engineering teams to develop the product team within Directi.

Anand Parthasarathy has served for over 20 years with the (Indian) Defence Research and Development Organisation, including a16-year stint at the Naval Laboratory in Cochin (NPOL); where he headed the DRDO- Cochin University Computer Centre. In 1988, he moved to Hyderabad where he was part of the formation team of Anurag, the DRDO Parallel Processing Lab and later joined the Indian Missile Programme where he served for 5 years as Project Manager (Army) for surface to air missiles.

In 1994 he became the IT Correspondent and later the IT Consulting Editor of “The Hindu” daily and reported on Information Technology for the Hindu group till Jan 1 2009.

He now runs a website on Indian Information Technology, called IndiaTechOnline www.indiatechonline.com and is Managing Director of Online India Tech Pvt. Ltd, the entity that runs the portal and associated consultancies in tech media.

He was an independent director of the KINFRA Film and Video Park, Trivandrum (2004- 2011) and Information Technology Consultant to Kerala Tourism (2008-2012). Currently he consults for the Kerala State Higher Education Council on its IT initiatives

In 1999, Anand became the first recipient of the “Polestar” Award for “IT Journalist of the Year“.

In 2003 he was selected for the first International PANOS-GKP Media Award given jointly by the London based environmental agency PANOS and the Global Knowledge Partnership for his coverage of the Kerala e-literacy programme in The Hindu and received the award at the first UN-sponsored global Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

Anand served as jury member/chairman for the Polestar IT Awards from 2001 to 2008 and as Jury member for Kerala State e-governance awards 2008- present and as judge for the international .INFO Awards 2010, 2011 ( AFILIAS).

He is the author of: How Kerala does IT,Saving Silent Valley: The Media Story, e-Governance: The Kerala Way,Kerala’s Best e-governance solutions,Steely Warrior: Arjun, India’s own main battle tank” , Icons of Indian IT  (will be published in July 2016)
